About Queerly Different

Welcome to Queerly Different, a human interest website and blog for LGBTQIA+ people living with disability and those with an interest in queer and disability related issues. On this website and our social media accounts, you will find news, commentary, personal insights and resources related to sexuality and gender identity, disability and mental health.

As well as sharing stories of interest to the queer and disability communities from established media outlets, Queerly Different also writes its own original pieces and we are always on the lookout for ideas. If there is an issue that you think needs to be covered or if you would like to share your personal experience with being queer and/or living with disability, please get in touch.

For someone who is both queer and living with a disability, it can be difficult to find services and resources that adequately meet their needs. While there may be service providers specialising in the LGBTQIA+ community and those that are experienced in assisting people living with disability, it is rare to find a provider whose services are adequately equipped to meet the intersecting needs of both. To help queer people living with disability in their search, Queerly Different is compiling a database of services and resources that may be useful. This can be found in the Resources section of the website. If there are any services you think should be added, please let us know.
