Here you will find links to organisations and other resources that have a particular focus on the needs of LGBTQIA+ people living with disability or may be of particular interest.
This list is in the early stages of compilation and is a work-in-progress. Please get in contact should you have any suggestions for suitable resources that can be added.
AUSTRALIA
Queensland
LGBTQIA+ Peer Support Group (Queenslanders With Disability Network): Run by and for LGBTQIA+ people living with disability, the group collaborates and networks to raise awareness around disability access and inclusion as well as discussing ways to combat all forms of discrimination. Online meetings are held monthly, providing members with the opportunity to connect, share experiences and discuss matters impacting their lives.
The T Cottage: Run by a disabled trans, autistic accredited social worker specialising in mental health supports for queer, trans and neurodivergent people, The T Cottage provides services in the Brisbane area that include a regular therapeutic social group and a Queer Trauma Sensitive Movement class, as well as gender counselling to trans and questioning folk.
South Australia
Adelaide Queer Autistic/ADHD Social Group: Holds monthly in-person meet ups at The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Thebarton for LGBTQIA+ individuals who are either formally or self diagnosed with autism and/or ADHD. Everyone over the age of 18 is welcome.
ColourFull Abilities: An organisation that focuses on the coming together of people from multiple diverse groups and especially LGBTQIA+ people living with disability. Their services include in-home support and personal care, support to access the community and social groups.
Victoria
Rainbow Spectrum Group (Aspergers Victoria): A place for LGBTQIA+ autistic and other neurodivergent folk to connect and share their experiences, exchange ideas and advice and support each other. The group meets monthly, alternating between virtual and in-person activities.
Western Australia
Pride with Disability Network: An independent peer support network for LGBTQIA+ people living with disability in Western Australia.
The Queer & Accessible Project (Living Proud): An initiative of Living Proud, which has been supporting LGBTQIA+ people in Western Australia for more than 40 years, The Queer & Accessible Project connects LGBTQIA+ people living with disability to the queer community by supporting queer groups and organisations to plan and promote accessible events and activities.
