Meet some of the LGBTQIA+ candidates contesting the election

With anti-LGBTQIA+ sentiment on the rise and extreme conservative elements in Australia being emboldened by what is happening under President Trump in the US, having queer representation speaking up for us in parliament is vital.

As the election draws closer, Queerly Different will be reviewing how key political parties and prominent Independents have positioned themselves on queer and disability related issues in the past and any associated policies they are taking to the election.

There are currently at least eleven LGBTQIA+ candidates registered to contest this year’s federal election. Star Observer spoke to three of those candidates. Read the article here.
