ALP pledges $10 million to ‘strengthen Medicare’ for LGBTQIA+ community

In the first LGBTQIA+-specific commitment this election campaign, the Australian Labor Party (ALP) today pledged $10 million in funding to “strengthen Medicare” and improve primary care for LGBTQIA+ Australians if re-elected, reports QNews.

The $10 million pledge will fund a national training and accreditation program to support healthcare providers in delivering inclusive, culturally safe care for the LGBTQIA+ community. The initiative is part of the Government’s National Action Plan for the Health and Wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people that was released in December 2024.
